Tylor J’s most recent EP Here for Now is a somber compilation of “Flowers,” “Haidawai (Part Two),” and a cover of “Maybe I’m Too High” – originally composed by fellow Toronto artist Paget Div. The EP almost moves in slow motion exploring otherworldly elements of production provided by Patrick Perez and Zed Grizzly. Here for Now is an attempt at experimental indie music laced with murmurs, echoes, occasional crackling sounds and genuine acoustics.
“Flowers,” emphasizes the use of piano while “Haidawai Part Two,” emphasizes drums and “Maybe I’m Too High” focuses on stringed instruments. The versatility displayed throughout the record extends to Tylor J’s entire discography. Here for Now, is the musicians fifth project preceded by Inbox Blues, Call it Karma, Dirtbag Blues and Tomorrow, we’ll be dead.
